In March of 2014, Melissa gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, and we used the short time off from our nine-to-fives to get to know the newest Martella. During the baby's frequent naps, we spent some time in the garage creating a nursing rocking chair made from a wine barrel. It came out a little lopsided, which was probably due to the lack of sleep, but it sparked the vision that would become our passion. From that project we moved on to crafting a beautiful American Flag wall hang out of another deconstructed wine barrel. The red stripes on the flag show beautifully from the aged red wine that naturally saturated the wood over time, and it became a focal point on our living room wall.
