Do you have a favorite woman owned business? Martellas would like to help!
The ‘ME TOO’ movement. The Women’s Marches. Hillary Clinton ran for President. No matter how you feel about these current events or what side of politics you like to follow... you have to admit, it’s the era of women! What an exciting time for women! We have a voice and rights that so many people before us fought for yet now we can use that voice to protect, preserve, support, negotiate, and empower others.

I’ll date myself here, but I grew up in a generation with superstars Mia Hamm and LeAnn Rimes. As a mother, I think it’s of utmost importance to raise my daughter with high values, but she has to have strong role models she can look up to and admire. We live in a cruel world, but there are LOTS of good people out there. I want our daughter to see women building each other up, supporting one another, loving each other. I want her to know that she can do anything she puts her mind to and no one can stop her.

As part of our community outreach this year, I wanted to reach beyond our normal boundaries and give support to others- not just local schools, local fundraisers, local charities. I convinced Monte to let me pick a handful of companies perhaps in the Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon area and make them a custom business logo sign on us. The catch is that I wanted to seek out small businesses- hopefully ones with female owners. I wanted to find businesses that had owners I’d want my daughter looking up to- people who promote equality and positivity, people who promote friendship, connecting with others. I am on a mission to find some awesome female leaders... do you have any suggestions? Who is your favorite female business owner and why?
